For Faculty: What is EndNote?

  • EndNote is a software program available that allows for the easy maintenance and storage of bibliographic citations, web resources and images;
  • EndNote makes often-tedious process of bibliography-creation an easy task;
  • EndNote also makes it easy to share your citation with colleagues and students;
  • The program is available to CSUCI faculty and staff; students have access to a compatible program called write note.

Where do I find Help when using EndNote?
In EndNote, simply click on the menu option from the top of the left-hand side of the page that says “Help.”

Is a manual available for EndNote?
YES! Windows and Mac versions of the EndNote manual are available at the CSUCI library reference desk and in the Faculty Development Office. In addition to hard copies, the entire manual is also available online for PC users at http://www.endnote.com/support/helpdocs/ENDNOTE6.PDF (PDF)and for Mac users at http://www.endnote.com/support/helpdocs/EndNote%206%20Manual%20(Mac).pdf.


I am having trouble importing information into EndNote. Can the library help?
YES! The library is happy you with any questions that you may have about EndNote. Importing citations can sometimes be tricky. Make sure that you have the proper import feature installed on your version of EndNote. To find the latest import filters go to http://www.endnote.com/support/enfilters.asp.
